Using HDTV For Xbox PS2 Display?

Using HDTV For Xbox PS2 Display? If this topic is inappropriate for this newsgroup please nudge me in the right direction--thanks. I am reconsidering getting an Xbox and/or PS2 again for gaming and how I might best display a sharper image then using the common TV. I did this once by converting the TV video signal to work on my computer monitor. Although this did produce a sharper image then I think the conversion process would degrade the image compared to feeding it directly to a HDTV CRT-type monitor today. With the more affordable advent now of HDTV with the ~1080 resolution, which at least sounds better then 1024 x 768 on the computer monitor, I am wondering if high definition TV might not now be better without any conversion degradation? Has anyone done this yet to confirm? Thanks. Well, sort of. I have an X-box connected to a Toshiba 42 in hdtv using component cable. 95 percent of the games will only display at 480P. Only about a half dozen X-box games have higher resolution output. The tv can show it wide screen however and it looks a lot better than on a regular tv, probably due to the component output. Eric |
