Default cheap inkjet

I have an Epson R1800 for my photos but want a cheap, low ink
consumption/cost, A4, B&W printer for letters etc.

Recommendations please!

Thanks,

Gordon

I'm aware that you said B&W and also wanted an inkjet. If you intend
only B&W then the cheapest route would be a laser printer. They are by far
cheaper to run than an inkjet that you are not refilling cartridges and very
dependable. They may cost a bit more initially but price per page pays for
the machine quickly if you do a lot of printing. To find a good quality one
look at the user ratings on Newegg.com for comparisons. Someone in this
group may also have a recommendation.

If you want an inkjet solution then the Epson C88+ with refillable
sponge cartridges using ARC (auto reset chips) is a cheap and qualitywise
way to go . Refilling comes out to about $1.25 a refill using good quality
ink. Spongeless cartridges are both quick and easily refilled.
By the way, the C88+ uses the same size cartridges as the R1800, and
you could be used with your current machine. I've been running my R1800 for
five years this way and also refill our C88+ printers for my daughters. If
you want suppliers I'm fine to give you some names.

Just GOOGLE for refillable ink cartridge to refill your own then you can
enjoy your Epson R1800. Or you can go for CISS, or you can go for
remanufactured ink etc..

How long have they been re-manufacturing ink, Joel? Who does it?
