I understand that the best game machine is the 64 bit AMD Athlon. Does
anyone know anything about that? Richard |

What that means is that the AMD Athlon 64 is the fastest desktop CPU for
gaming. The FX-55 CPU has a good lead over the fastest intel processors in gaming. Any Athlon-64 will be faster than a comparatively priced Intel processor for almost any game. (This is of course assuming you have a comparable system in terms of video card, hard drive, amount of ram etc) |

Richard It has to be the an on-die memory controller which is very low in latency compared to Intel, even the low-end Sempron gives Intel's much more expensive P4 chips a run for their money when it comes to gaming. anandtech.com has lots of comparisons. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=2139&p=8 http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...px?i=2275&p=10 http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=2249&p=9 Ed -- What ever happened to the Intel Celeron? They went to seed and are to be planted next Spring for a new crop!!! |
