Default ATI X850 DVI no signal - help!

I have tried an LCD TV and an LCD flat panel and I cannot get DVI output
from my radeon x850 xt (AGP) video
card! I have tried 3 different DVI-D cables as well. I have narrowed it
down to 2 possiblities:

A DVI-I cable is required which nobody local has
The digital output of the card is broken.

What happens if you use an analogue cable to boot into Windows and then
switch the monitor's input to DVI? Do you get a signal then?

I have tried this before with no success. I cannot even get a signal when
the computer
first starts up during post. I've had my card almost 2 months now and doubt
I can exchange
it at Best Buy, but I am certainly going to try.

ATI support is kind of useless. The 'level 2' tech I was transferred to
argued with me for much
of the conversation and I really have to question his level of knowledge
after asking him several
direct questions.

I'm going to phone Best Buy and see what they will do.

Just a followup:

The DVI port on my X850 XT was defective even though the ATI tier 2 support
person said
that was not possible since it worked with the vga adapter. I responded
back to him and almost
felt like suggesting he learn more about DVI is and how the pins are
configured - not to mention
know something about the product he is supporting. The 4 pins around the
blade are analogue
and just because the analogue part of the port works (it's DVI-I or dual
interface), does not mean the
digital part of it does. The guy was a jerk, wanted to argue with me most
of the time and was hardly
polite at all when asking me questions about my hardware.
