Where Can I Buy an Asus V9280 VideoSuite?
I'm seeing the V9280 SuperFast at many places but not the VideoSuite.

In BC you can get it from me lol. Or any of your local PC shops. I'm not
sure where abouts do you live? Have you tried ebay? "Don Lindbergh" wrote in message .. . I'm seeing the V9280 SuperFast at many places but not the VideoSuite. --Don don{at}donlindbergh{dot}com |

search pricewatch.com for "ASUS V9280" and you'll find the VIVO version
starting at about $200US On the other hand, http://www.insightcomponents.com/ has the ASUS FX5600 Videosuite for $219 Don Lindbergh wrote: I'm seeing the V9280 SuperFast at many places but not the VideoSuite. --Don don{at}donlindbergh{dot}com |

I just ordered the (drum roll please): "Asus V9560 VideoSuite GeForce FX 5600 AGP 8X 128MB DDR Video Card w/TV-Out & DVI Retail" from Googlegear for $192 with free shipping. Is the V9280S worth the extra bucks? Just curious. I had no idea which card to buy, but liked the Smart Cooling, the VideoSuite stuff, and the ASUS name. |

I'll try but am doubtful based on my search so far. www.microx-press.com is for instance local to me, as is a CompUSA and Best Buy but none sell it. I'm in Indianapolis, Indiana. I'll try calling some caller shops..... Have you tried ebay? Yep. Nothing active listed nor completed in the past x days they keep listings for. --Don |

search pricewatch.com for "ASUS V9280" and you'll find the VIVO version starting at about $200US Yep, thanks. All three pages of hits for that search yield results for the TD or S models only. One confusing thing is the S (SuperFast) has video I/O. I'm interested in the VideoSuite primarily for the speed controlled fan (which will hopefully make for quieter operation most of the time) as well as the ability to drive two DVI monitors. On the other hand, http://www.insightcomponents.com/ has the ASUS FX5600 Videosuite for $219 Oh cool, thanks! I'm still trying to suss out all the bloody models. I was choosing the Ti4200 based cards because I got the idea that was sort of a 'sweet spot' price/performance wise and there seemed to be general agreement that this was a proven winner. On the other hand, it seems I'll possibly be paying a premium for this 'VideoSuite' model of the 9280, everybody seems to be pushing the SuperFast (or TD). I gather the FX5600 is a better performer than the Ti4200? Any downsides? I guess I need to learn more about all the 'FX' based cards. I read something at Toms Hardware about the FX5800 (Ultra) being one to stay away from for instance. The version-itis is kind of a bitch to navigate...... Thanks for any helpful hints, --Don |

Cool, thanks that's helpful and sounds like a potentially good match for my needs. Actually I don't really know enough about the FX5600 based boards versus the Ti4200 based boards to say which is better. I'm definitely interested in knowing more about any significant performance or functionality differences. Actually I'm guessing I'd be perfectly happy with the slower one based on my experience with 'fast' 3D so far. IE I presume any of the recent NVidia cards will blow the doors off my Matrox G400 MAX etc. My main focus is good quality ('good enough') video in/out and 2D. Fast 3d performance for me will be an extra luxury. Because of my criteria I was going to stick with Matrox, which everyone seems to agree has the video in/out and 2D stuff down, but have read enough comments indicating that the video in/out and 2D quality and performance of the fast 3D cards has improved considerably from the bad old days.... |
