Default dead on-board ethernet

any diagnostics for the MCP-T ethernet? mine just stopped working. checked
all of the lines, re-loaded winxp, but i kept getting fail to connect
messages. my laptop connected fine through USB and now my system is up on a
3Com PCI card. is my chipset a dud? it worked for 2 months.
