A7V8X-X with Win98 Restart got to Bios Setup

Hi,

I have A7V8X-X (Bios version 1006) with AMD XP 2500+ (Barton). I'm dual
booting with Mandrake Linux and Win98. Runs very stable. But...

Whenever I'm in Win98 and choose Start-Shutdown and choose Restart, as
Win98 restarts after POST it goes into BIOS Setup. (Not all the time
though, but about 50% of the time). I have to choose Exit and Exit with
Saving configuration from the Bios Setup for Win98 to boot.

Anybody know the cause of this? (Send mail to Asus Support 2 days ago,
not heard from them until now)

Hi,
I had a similar problem with BIOS version 1005. Whenever I changed
something in Win98 SE (installing new driver or new software) the PC
went into BIOS Setup during the next restart. In my case updating to
BIOS version 1006 solved the problem. So I guess it is a BIOS problem.
On the Asus Website I found a Beta of version 1007. Maybe that will work
for you.
