Default Is I/O Magic DVD Burner any good? Compatability

I saw one for sale for $100 (Canadian dollars) with mail in rebate. I
heard LG is good, but
not familiar with i/o magic 4x dual format. Are they picky about

reading
media types?
I read the Sanyo actually makes that drive.

Unless you know for sure what is in the box no one can really answer your
questions.

With I/O Magic you won't know what drive you have until you open the box and
even then you may have to do a web search to determine the actual
manufacturer.

Good luck with the rebate as I/O Magic is notorious for delaying and
sometimes just not paying MIRs.

The truth is out there. You just have to look in the right places and ask
the right questions.

That's not much help since I/O Magic changes manufacturers fairly
frequently. As I said the only way to know is to open the box and examine
the drive. Even then a web search may be needed to fully identify the drive.

My kids bought me the CD burner by I/O Magic. I brought it back. I could not
install it onto my computer, the drivers packaged with the burner for Windows
98SE would not install. After heading to their website, I came upon a forum
where people could post, and OMG, there were soooooo many complaints about that
particular burner and lots of complaints about customer and technical support,
(or lack of it). No one could get through to them, so you might want to
consider that.
