Maxtor Plus9 SATA drive noise
Hi,
I have a 80gb one of these drives. How much noise should I expect them to make? It just seems like it makes a hell of a lot of noise. Does the case make a considerable difference? I only have another CDRW in the drive rack with it. Anyone? Shane. |

I should mention that the Noise I am hearding is the head movement, not the
spinning I am sitting here infront of a dell pc, and u cant hear it at all. No fans, nothing.....!!! Does the case make such a difference? I wanted a quiet pc!! So I built my own, but i think the window on the side makes quite a bit of noise. Shane |

You might try using the Maxtor Acoustic Management utility, it will quiet the seek noise. It comes on CD or floppy with retail drives or is available for download from Maxtor's website. http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/setacm.htm Dave |
