Wireless LAN Card Recommendations
I will be in need of a wireless PCI LAN card or USB device for at least a
few days so I don't want to spend much money. Do PCI wireless cards have a greater range than USB or are they equivalent? I've been looking on eBay. Has anyone heard of TP-Link? They are very reasonably priced, but are these cards any good? I'm a little concerned because there's another cheap card that seems to be in plentiful supply called EDUP. But after doing a Google search I realized that this one is junk. |

Well this one's for $10 including shipping, and I've shopped at Newegg long enough to figure out nutcase reviews to reasonable critques about a product. So, although I just received one of these cards myself and haven't installed it I would wager it's probably a pretty decent card from what I have read. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-030-_-Product -- Jan Alter |

When searching for a card several months ago, I did compare several with USB counterparts from the same companies, and in the same market range. For those where I could find real specs, the PCI cards had significantly better sensitivity and power output (i.e., throughput and range). I've seen the TP-Link ads, and they seem to be targeting D-Link users. If you only need the card for limited use, go for the good price and hope it is "good enough" and lasts "long enough"... |
