I wonder why nVidia bothered putting two NVIO chips on the board, when it
lacks the ports to drive four monitors anyway.

To sell their professional graphics cards I think. Otherwise they'd have
put on the PCB a connector and another backplate with two more DVI
connectors so that four monitors could be used.

Mind you, beginning to wonder when cases will come with universal plugs for
side or frontal DVI/HDMI sockets that graphic cards can use either output or
input.
