Default Epson Photo 890 - no color ink but what to print black

This is getting on my nerves - I'm out of color ink on my Epson Photo
890 BUT I only want to print some black text.

Because of this lack of color I can't print *anything* at all (red LED
is lit on the front panel, indicating that a cartridge needs
changing).

I can't get a new cartridge for a couple of days.

Is there a way around this so I can just print black?

Thanks,
Phil

At least it gets around the problem until I get a new colour cartridge
in a few days. :-)

How could that be as long as he's careful not to print color...

My thoughts exactly. I only did it so I could print some stuff that's
black only.

Having said that, it does make me wonder just how much color ink IS
left in the colour cartridge and whether Epson 'play safe' and say
it's empty when in fact it might be possible to print another few
pages in color fromthe 'empty' cart.

I can say that I took a chance one day and printed 3 8X10 photos after the
color ink counter said it was empty and was reset on my Epson 820 and got
away with it with no problems, so apprently there is quite a bit of ink left
when it indicates empty.

That said..don't try this at home kids unless your willing to take the risk
of head damage.
