Default Drive Image rescue

I have no floppy drive, which is normally the vehicle for Drive Image 5.0x
rescue diskettes (in case C:/ or XP dies).

Is there a way to invoke the DOS RESTORE windows by using the D.I.
bootable CD?

Alternatively, could the two rescue floppies be copied to two CD/R disks.
With the CD drive configured to boot first, would that act the same as if
booting from the floppies?

Knowledgable suggestions appreciated...

Yes, that works fine.

You can also just create an image file
to CDR and that CDR is bootable too.

Knowledgable suggestions appreciated...

Sounded as if it should. When I can get access to a burner (that also has
a floppy drive), I will give that a go.

You can also just create an image file

That would be even better, except a CR/R is not big enough to store the
image, unless it's split, of course. Tested that (by inserting disk 1 or a
spanned pair) and the disk was not seen at boot, so I assume that bootable
status is not automatic when an image is saved to that media.

I have several images backed to a DVD/RW, also not seen as bootable.
Perhaps you can relate how it can be made so...

Will a DVD/RW work, or must it be a DVD-R? DVD itself may be
unacceptable? (combo drive)? If DVD is supported, must it contain only
one image?

Many thanks

Maybe thats only with DI 6/2002, forget now what 5 does with that.

Will a DVD/RW work,

Dunno, cant say I tried that with even DI 6/2002

or must it be a DVD-R? DVD itself may be unacceptable? (combo drive)?

Dunno again and I dont have 5 installed anymore so cant try it easily.

If DVD is supported, must it contain only one image?

I doubt it. With 6/2002, what is on the CDR doesnt matter,
I quite often use it instead of the floppys for restoring images
on the hard drive on the test system, because its much more
more convenient to boot a CDR than to boot the floppys.
