Greater market share in Canada, EMC or HDS?
Does anyone have any numbers on this? Can you break it down by major
cities? Any good websites that discuss this? Thanks. |

Hi Keith,
Interestingly enough, while I am a big fan of HDS, they are far from competing with EMC globally. (don't know about Canada though, sorry - I'm an Aussie) Global market share in network storage: (NAS & SAN combined) 1. EMC 2. IBM 3. HPq 4. NetApp 5. HDS That's right, NetApp now has greater global networked storage market share than HDS, even if you assign the gFilers that HDS rebadges from NetApp to HDS... IBM and HP obviously leverage their server market dominance to push their storage solutions very successfully, even though their technology is well behind the dedicated storage vendors. For LUN managment technology, the order would have to be NetApp, then EMC then HDS. (NetApp's virtualisation is extraordinarily ahead of everyone - arbitrary sized volumes, regardless of block or file protocols or FC or GbE attach, that can be resized by arbitrary amounts, without stopping applications... EMC Symmetrix & CLARiiON and HDS Lightning & Thunder are all nowhere near there yet) "Cooler" wrote in message ups.com... Does anyone have any numbers on this? Can you break it down by major cities? Any good websites that discuss this? Thanks. |

Thanks. That's great information.
As for virtualization don't you think HDS' Tagmastore beats all the others? In the US, the press releases state this. |
