Default Is an upgrade from athlon 64 3000+ to 4000+ worth it?

I posted about the need to go dual core a min ago, but I can get this single
core 4000+ for VERY cheap, is it worth it or should I go dual core? Have
single core 3000+ now......
TIA
John

I upgraded from a 754 3000+ to an X2 3800+ and doubled the ram from 512M
to 1GB. Noticed a big difference in cpu intensive apps, and not so much in
other things. I had clocked my 3000+ from 2GHz to 2.33GHz and didn't
notice mucj of a difference at all. I think you'll be much happier with
dual core. I was.

You should try it with 512M ram for a fair comparison though.

Ram wasn't really the problem as I don't run a bunch of apps at once. If I
run HD PIP, it uses about 80% of each core. The old 3000+ wouldn't do HD
PIP at all even overclocked to close to 3800+ speed.

Personally id say it all depends on what you use the PC for...
One of my m8s upgraded from a 3200+ to a 4000+ benchmarked it and got
about 5 more marks... so if your using it for gaming i dont think it
makes much graphical difference but some people have said they noticed
a huge difference...
