Question on BIOS settings
Dear All!
I recently built a low cost computer using: Shuttle AK39N AMD Duron 1,4 GHz Kingmax 256 MB DDR RAM, 400 MHz Seagate Barracuda 120 GB and an old Leadtek Winfast s325 (TNT2, 32 MB, AGP 4x) When installing Windows XP on this system it was a nightmare where files could not be copied from CD, or when it installed, the register and other files were corrupted on reboot. After disabling everything in BIOS, I was finally able to get a working installation. Trying to narrow the problem down by enabling one setting at a time, I've found one or more of the following settings causing the problem: PCI1 Master 0 WS Write PCI2 Master 1 WS Write PCI1 Post Write PCI2 Post Write VLink 8X Support PCI Delay Transaction I know some of the PCI settings has to do with the AGP bus. I also know that the VLink setting itself causes this problem, but haven't tried if also the other settings alone cause the same problem. Personally I suspect the old AGP card might be the problem source, but I'm not sure. Anyone who has any ideas? Best regards Magnus |
