Newbie Question
Hello all,
I'm thinking of building a new PC with the AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton and overclocking it to a 3200+. It's the first time I will have built an overclocked PC and I am buying this processor becuase I don't see the point in paying £150 when you can just pay £50 and get the same speeds. That gives me an extra £100 to get a cool graphics card . Anyway, all of the forum threads and stuff I have read about overclocking the 2500+ have been written in 2002 and 2003 and I am wondering if AMD have got wise about people having 3200+ speeds without them having an extra £100 in their bank account and locked the FSB of the processor somehow or dicreased it's ability to overclock. I just want to do a simple FSB overclock to 200mhz. The computer will have this hardwa Athlon XP 2500+ Barton Asus A7N8X Deluxe v2.0 A single stick of Samsung 512 Pc3200 RAM Seagate Barracuda SATA 80gb Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb For cooling I am thinking about 2xAntec Double Ball Bearing 8mm Fans, Thermaltake Volcano 12 HSF and Coolermaster Premium Thermal Compound. I just want an overclocker's opinion on what I have planned and if I have enough cooling and if my first overclocking attempt will work . Can I plz have a quick answer to my question a bit up the page about AMD locking the FSB (if that is actually possible) sneaked in too . Thanks a bunch, Luke |
