Default No Sound on G7-400 Pro 2

Peter

Spot on! When I was building the PC, I read the manual on each of the
options available on the motherboard. I just didn't pick up correctly
the front audio options. I put the two jumpers back in place, and now
have sound. Thank you very much.

Check that the front audio connector jumpers on the motherboard are set
correctly - if the system thinks you are using front audio, it wont send any
sound to the rear connectors.

I have been through the various newsgroups and done my share of
Googling but am still stuck.

I have the G7-400 Pro 2 but cannot get the sound to work through the
line out. I am running Windows XP Pro, and have tried updating the
drivers with those from the Gigabyte, Realtek and nVidia (another
posting suggested updating the video drivers) sites. I even applied
the patch from the Microsoft site, but all to no avail. The AC'97 is
enabled in the BIOS and I tried two different sets of powered speakers
and a set of headphones. I even went as far as installing Windows 98
from scratch to see if XP was at fault. Finally, I decided to try the
SPDIF adaptor as my speakers have a digital output, and I now have
sound. However, if I want to record some sound from my PC, I need to
take it from the line out socket. I know that one option is to disable
the onboard sound and buy a PCI sound card, but I shouldn't have to.
Before I try and get the company to replace it, is there anything that
I may have missed.
