Default Dell's 1 Year 10GB Online DataSafe Storage

I purchased a Dell Vostro 400 Mini Tower which was supposed to come with a
free 1 year subscription to Dell's 10GB Online DataSafe Storage. The
instructions say to click on the Icon on the Desktop to activate your
account. There is no Dell DataSafe Icon on my desktop. I have looked in
all of the Dell folders and cannot find anything pertaining to the online
DataSafe storage. Anyone know where this file is located on the computer or
how I can activate my free account.

Barry

If there's no desktop icon/shortcut, then it should be listed on your
start/programs menu.

Further, I don't see that there is any download available for DDS on the
support site.

If you still can't find it (be sure to check add/remove programs in control
panel to see if it's installed), then I'd shoot a note to tech support via
chat to see what they had to say about it:

i've sold many of these systems recently and i have never seen this
Datasafe storage system...
it's not obvious at all.... i'll take another look this week, got more
systems coming in. it could be tied to that Dell Support program, which
i quickly remove. or it could be a web site service that you go to on
their site.

i'd be curious to hear where it is myself, In case i'm asked, but I
won't advise any of my clients to use it.

Right. The entries and part numbers should show on his packing slip and/or
online under his original system configuration.

But like Jay, while I've had only a few of these systems come through for
others, I've never recommended or attempted to locate or activate the
program itself.

It would be nice if someone here in the group has a newer
Inspiron/Vostro/Dimension/Optiplex model and could take a look.

It may be entirely web-based, I really don't know.

In my opinion, you don't really want it anyway. After the free offer
runs out you have to pay every year. Google's Gmail will let you
store about 4gb for free. Or you could get a USB drive with lots of
storage and only pay for it once.

My Inspiron came with it. Maybe it's only certain models.
