Default AIW Radeon 7500 + Win2K capture problems

"Eric Mulder" wrote in message
om...
Hello -

I've been unable to get capture working, regardless of format(MPEG,
AVI, the ATI .vcr format), regardless of input (tuner, composite), and
regardless of the application using the latest WDM drivers from the
ATI website.. I've tried the bundled MultiMedia Center (7.5)
videostudio6 , Virtual Dub, and Virtual VCR.. All with similar
results.. A small (2k) file being written or the application saying
that the capture file is corrupt. My preview window displays the
video and audio fine, but capture will not work. Device manager lists
my capture device (Legacy video capture device WDM for Win32) as
working properly. No real help from ATI support. Just some canned
responses about reinstalling, upgrading. I have removed, reinstalled,
upgraded drivers, DirectX, and applications to no avail. Nothing
being logged to event monitor. I've found no one relating similar
problems in the newsgroups, WWW. Any ideas?

system:
intel 440BX PII 450
Win2k SP3 -
DirectX 9
Radeon 7500 AIW, SB128
196 meg RAM
7200 rpm HDD w/ UDMA working

Thanks,

- Eric

Under "Disk Space", you need define the temp capture file directory. Under
"One touch recording", you need define the final capture file directory.
These two are under "Digital VCR" tab. And you also need to define
"recording file" at the last step of the initialization wizard. I setup all
three at "e:". If different, they might need move files between directory
and takes very long time. It could also cause trouble if the default
directory is set non-writable. Better set up a dedicated logical drive to
mpeg 2 files.
