Default pc audio problem

Hi Guys
Would like advise for a pc problem if there are any ideas please.
Playback on most forms of audio on my pc sounds too quick, a bit like
chipmunks. CD audio is ok . DVD/ pc formats all no good. Is there a setting
somewhere that needs adjusting?? I am using on board audio AC'97 driver for
Intel 82801AA chip.

Thanks
