Default Another dumb SP2 question

So, if I do a clean reinstall of XP, I don't need SP1 anymore, right?
Just SP2? Yes?

Just slipstream SP2 into your disc and be done with it.

A very useful suggestion, and not hard to do, have a look here;
http://www.iamnotageek.com/a/12-p1.php for the guide I used (with no
problems).

Or google for something like slipstream sp2 xp, or something similar.

What this does BTW, is to create a fully working XP installation cd, just
like your original cd but with all of the SP2 files incorporated / updated,
and it's perfectly legal and definitely recommended.

Yep, I did exactly that same procedure four days ago on a new installation; works
perfectly.

Before you get too carried away, just be aware that MANY are having BIG, BIG
troubles after installing SP2. In fact a lot are even after SP1.
I'm one of them.
On my computer I lose all my sound & can't access my "other identities" in
OE. Several other smaller issues as well.
I think that there are just too many paranoid people out there
scaremongering. I mean, really, who would bother hacking into my computer?
Anyway, after several attempts to install XP Pro & then add in all the SP's
& other patches, I just ended up installing XP Pro & just adding the couple
of patches that patch some security holes. No more blue screens & everything
works OK for me.
Do a google search for SP1 or SP2 problems & you'll see what I mean.

Talking of scaremongering the latest report shows only 10% of 44,000
canvassed users have had issues with SP2.

I've installed it on my XP Pro and two XP Home systems with no problems. If
you're going to google to learn more make sure its balanced and look for
stories about your type of setup. Shaun.

10%??? ****, that's a pretty significant number. Some posters here would
like you to believe that SP2 causing problems is a statistical
nomaly. -Dave
