Default ML330E system board

I've picked up a used ML330E system board (230540-001) which seems to have
been common in qute a few Compaq server models. It has a 933Mhz CPU (or
thereabouts) and various PCI's including features board, network card etc.
My intention is to use it in a standard ATX tower as a server on my home
network for educational project purposes only, nothing critical so it needn't
be perfect. It will be useful as an aid on the networks course I am due to
start studying shortly at university.
I've built PC's before but never a server so hopefully a few of the
knowledgeable people on here may be able to give me some guidance through the
various stages.
Firstly, there are a few brand specific parts that I need to get the board
running but the commercial Compaq spares prices are way beyond my budget and
searches for used parts have so far been fruitless.
If anyone has a scrapped / cannibalised machine or could suggest a source,
this is what I know I need to so far ........

Server Management Information Cable (SMIC) connector assembly (goes between
mainboard and features board)

Cable from mainboard connector to front panel start button / lights etc., or
information on the essential pinouts to boot.

System fan, 5 pin (No.4 unused) or can a 3 pin fan be used ?

I would of course be happy to pay a reasonable price and shipping.
Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just to
say "not worth the effort".

Thanks,

Wireman

Wireman,
Looks like this board has run it course and now dead.

Forget trying to take a Compaq server board and building a pc out of it. It
would simply be cheaper to buy a used server complete and be done with it.
You might go to ebay and search Compaq servers. You will find an assortment
from dirt cheap to rather big bucks. Just watch shipping costs, some of
those people make a killing on shipping. Also remember, anything you buy
there is dropping in cost fast so don't spend much money unless you want a
newer technology server.

Best of luck,
Phil
