You've washed your TNT card, broke its fan, started a website to complain about fans, questioned AGP voltages, bought an FX5200, and now you seem to be showing-off because you think they didn't charge you tax. All of this could have been put into one thread, so be a good little boy and remember that from now on. This guy's an idiot. Latest post is a Halo "review" ...a total pile of bull**** in which he says his screaming PIII 450 with a FX5200 plays the game "just fine" with decent framerates. That must be some ****ing magic PIII 450 there. Guys with 2600Mhz systems with FX5200's are getting 15-17 fps on timedemo at 640x480 with medium details. 2400Mhz systems with 9700 Pro's at 1024x768 with medium details are getting 30fps or so. And besides from that, you're a ****ing idiot because of two reasons: 1. I dont like swearing people. 2. Halo has a fixed frame rate you ****ing idiot ! Hahahahahaha Skybuck. |

Well seeing your disbelieve I decide to play again... but this time enabled the frames per second display. ( Control F12 ) During the beach storm the fps is 5. Which is a bit too slow. During driving the car the fps is 10 to 15. During inside or corridors the fps is 20 to 30 max. I play the full game on AMD 2600+ with radeon 9000 which is comparable to the FX5200. The game played almost the same. So it's not the CPU that is at fault... the game is just slow. I am not sure how an AMD 2600+ compares to a Pentium III 450 mhz. I think the AMD is 5 times as fast since I tested it once... but it could even be faster... But during halo this does not seem to be the case... halo is just slow hahahaha Later I will play the multiplayer... with fps display on... I think the fps will be about 20 or 30... If it's 30 I will increase the fixed frame rate to 60... and see what happens. I am happy my feeling for fps is on the mark =D I play rtcw with 15 to 24 fps... and RTCW is 100 times more action than HALO.... Halo IS A BABY SHOOTER compared to RTCW. If you need 30 or even 60 fps to play HALO decently and finished it... you're out of your ****ing mind ! I could still finish this HALO game at 5 FPS per second if I really wanted too ! But I would prefer 10 fps... And the game achieves 10 fps most of the time... which is enough for this slow paced shooter ! Hehehehe SO GROW UP ! Skybuck. |

Well, well, well... Very interesting ! As usual with microsoft software it's a question of settings. The default settings is a frame rate of 30... at least for my installation of the game. I just played multiplayer... my frame rates are between 10 en 35... Since I now set the frame rate to VSync. Which means it could be as fast as my monitor's refresh rate which is set at 70... I also talk to somebody which didn't understand much of computers etc... but he was still able to answer my questions and change the settings. His processor is an P4 2.8 ghz ! His resolution was 1024x786... and his frame rate was 30 fps. I then explained to him what this is and told him to set the frame rate to VSync... his frame rate remained at 30 fps. So I think halo might do some kind of speed test when it starts up and then set the quality level so that it still achieves 30 fps but not more. I then told him to set the resolution to 640x480 to see what would happen. His frame rate went to 60 fps. He then decided to set it to no-vsync and his frame rate went even further up to 90 !!! I told him to try the single player experience with those settings =D He smiled ! So as you can see... it's all a question of settings :P ! ( Just like windows xp which has totally ****ed up settings with a fresh install ! ) Skybuck =D |

Well I just played halo again after playing rtcw at 1024x768 with high
texture resulting in very high frame rates of even 70 thx to less interpolating i guess. So now I tried halo at 1024x768 with everything high... in single player... generally a very acceptable 9 frames per second Except when more than 6 or 7 aliens then it drops to 5 to 3. Skybuck. |

Well that shows what power your card has... very low... the human eye loves FPS between 85-100 ..... then it's just perfect! 75 is fine..but some people still see "twitching", 60 is... headache... 30 is the least you need for on television, less then 10 is pathetic! |
