Hi All,
Please help me in following issue. I have problem with my new machine which is having 2.8 MHz 800 FSV Processor, Asus P4R800-VM Motherboard, 512MB Memory 40GB harddisk. etc.. After OS installation ( Upto the installation no any problem) Machine is restarting and halting at XP initial screen. But If I go to Safe mode , it works fine. I tried disable all the onboard devices etc wouldn't help me. But When I install windows 2000 Professional , it works very fine. I prefer to install Windows XP Pro. Please help me.. Thanks in advance Bava |

Thanks in advance Bava I tried Googling on P4R800-VM and WinXP and found this. http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...cvl ny.cv.net The resolution was some kind of ATAPI problem. Try disconnecting the install CD/DVD and just boot with the hard drive and see what happens. Now, while there are chipset drivers on the Asus motherboard CD, I don't see any mention of ATA/IDE drivers, implying the standard MS ones are supposed to work. If you get booted, you might want to enter Device Manager, after the ATI chipset drivers are installed, and see what is being used as a driver for the hard disk interface. You may have to copy some portion of the contents of the Asus motherboard CD, from the CD/DVD drive to the hard disk, while you are in Win2K, in order to have chipset drivers available when WinXP is booted. If you didn't have Win2K to work with, it would be pretty difficult to escape from this mess, as you would need a network driver, in order to actually be able to download any further files you might need from he http://www.asus.com.tw/support/downl...Language=en-us HTH, Paul |
