Default nVidia 6800 series max memory question

Hello,

Does anyone know the theoretical maximum memory that 6800 series cards
support?
I am asking this to see whether nVidia may be able to release cards with
more than 256 Mb memory in the near future.

After all, Doom3 engine requires ~500 Mb video memory in the Ultra Quality
mode, so I assume, the cards with such memory are well into design.

Thanks.

First of all, I did NOT use the word "REQUIRE".
Second, I indicated the mode as "Ultra Quality" which will not be available
at the time of release of Doom3.
Third, before saying that something is BS, confirm that it is!
Fourth, for the ones who are interested, the source of information is id
itself, in an interview published in the latest issue of PCGamer.

GOT IT?

Anyway, looks like no one has an answer for my REAL question.

Minor correction:
I meant that I did not say that the game REQUIRES 500 Mb VRAM to RUN at all.
