Default 45.23 Win2K - Error when applying refresh rate overrides

Always reproducable, when selecting any refresh rate from the Direct3D
settings page, under the 'override' radio button, this non-fatal error
appears:

'An error occured while Windows was working with the Control Panel file
C:\WINNT\system32\desk.cpl'

I'm assuming it's just a PC specific problem, but if anyone has had this
happen to them, give a shout out.

Bad assumption. ;-)

Same error here, W2K SP4. DX9.0b. GF4 Ti4400.

Oh boy, W2K SP4, DX9.0b GF4 Ti4400 as well.

Looks like a bona fide bug, you want to, or shall I?

I've had the same error after udating my drivers. But I've then uninstalled
all NVIDIA drivers, used detonator destroyer(to make sure they are really
gone), rebootet the system, installed the new drivers. And then there where
no more problems....

To be honest, I wouldn't know where to start. Are you implying that
there is somewhere to turn?

I am implying nothing of the sort, I am stating it directly:

http://support.nvidia.com/apps/EndUserSupport/index.asp

As they say around these parts:

"Well I'll be dipped in ****."

I figure it's akin to spitting in the ocean, but I'll give it a shot.
Thanks for the link.

Quite welcome, if only more people would actually use it, we might actually
accomplish something.
