radeon 9550 - advertised driver not on CD!
I don't think you can, I don't believe ATi support the use of any thing
later than the 7000 series cards on NT4. In which case your should express your annoyance to the supplier and chase them for a refund! CrimsonLiar "mike" wrote in message ... I've just been trying to get a radeon 9550 installed under Windows NT4 (as card was advertised as having drivers for NT4). The CD as supplied with the card starts up ok and offers an option for "Install NT4 driver", but after a bit of fancy graphics, comes up with "INF error Video driver not found"! Not exactly an impressive product so far :-( So now I'm left with a card I can't use. Can someone please tell me where I can get a driver for the 9550 for NT4? I've been looking around the web for ages and nearest I've come is drivers for 9000. Any help much appreciated. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. You might consider downloading a driver from ATI's site -- they seem to have drivers for everything I've ever looked for. Failing that, other manufacturers make 9550 cards and there is a good chance that one of their websites will have the requisite driver. -- John McGaw [Knoxville, TN, USA] http://johnmcgaw.com |

" If you go to http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html , you will see that they do not have NT drivers for anything above the 7500. I'm guessing that's your limit. |

I also have a 9550 in a computer here at work. The ATI installation CD does
have document files that state that the drivers for NT 4 are on the CD. However, there is no NT inf for the card, and I also cannot find any NT drivers labelled as such. Have you followed the installation information in the DOC/Instl_NT.doc file? If their directions don't work, then take it up with ATI. "mike" wrote in message ... FYI Windows 2000 and XP were built from the NT kernel(operating system core). You need pure 32bit drivers, either will fit the bill. You do realize that NT4 has no plug and play capability so you would have to find them for yourself. |

I found a site that seemed to offer some hope at http://www.ntcompatible.com/story33723.html It' a large download at 20Mb - but "seemed" to all the right things and installed what I thought was a driver along the way. However, it then failed with a "EnumDisplaySettingsExA not found in user32.dll" (big sigh) So to day I've been trying to check if I have the latest user32.dll for NT4 - which I probably do as it NT4 sp6. If so, that's another dead-end. Tim, you say I could try using "Windows 2000 drivers - could you please elaborate on how I would go about doing that? (A can borrow a Windows 2000 machine. Thanks You have to browse the disc and find the setup programme, presumably in the Windows2000 folder and run the setup.exe from there. NT4 was always a bitch to install new hardware on so don't feel that it's just you. |
