TIA Pete PCIE all the way, you're just buying into a dead end with the last AGP cards. An A64 w/ PCIE board with a 7600GT would be a great upgrade if you can't afford the 7800's. As for NF3 to an NF4, I'm pretty sure you'll have to reinstall, as all the device id's change and the chipset is very different (even though it runs on the same driver). And you'll probably be going SATA, so there's another thing. I've never actually thought about this, but can a PCIE mobo run without a chipset driver properly? I know NF2's can for sure. |

With the 7600gt and pcie mb around $270 it sound good if the 7600gt is a
great card although the 6800gs gets am3 58500 benchmark. For the high res the new card would be better. Or I could wait another 6 months hehe. I think the pcie card would have to work otherwise how would you install anything.Maybe uninstall the nv chipset drivers and reinstall with the new mb. Maybe I will do it someday "Peter" wrote in message news:T6X_f.4240$ee6.566@trndny01... 1) 6800gs to 7800gs probably not right? 2) agp to pcie motherboard with same processor and 1gb single channel ram pc 3200 MB example: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...ab=11&NoMapp=0 Then get a pcie card like 7800gt I only have an amd 3200+ processor. anone know if you can swap nv3 to nv4 mb without win xp reinstall? or if its worth it.
