HP PSC-1210
Hi folks,
I am new to this group and fairly new to computing. I have a problem I would like to throw out to the group, it's way over my head. My printer is a HP PSC 1210, connected to a X-P Home computer. Today after printing 20 photo's, the black ink cartridge ran dry, I replaced it, and now nothing works on the printer. I can't align the new cartridge, one print job is in queue and I am unable to delete the job. I have rebooted the computer and also the printer. At one time after the problem started the check paper light came on, however, it doesn't any more and there is ample paper. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks, Steve |

Thanks, Steve Most likely the job in the print queue is corrupt and no further jobs will print. You need to get rid of that job. Try this - Go to Start, Run and type "net stop spooler" (without the quotes) and click OK. You may see a Dos window briefly appear. Now open the print queue and delete the job, in fact delete any and all jobs that may be there. If the jobs delete OK (give it time) open the run command box again and type "net start spooler" (once more without the quotes). Good luck Tony MS MVP Printing/Imaging |

I followed your directions (I think), then to control panel, then to printers & fax, I tried to delete all jobs and I get a message "Operation could not be completed. the print spooler service is not running". I do show 1 job that is ready to print. Steve |

OK stop the spooler as before Go to \windows\system32\spool\printers and delete all of the .spl and .shd files that are there. Start the spooler again. If that gets rid of the print job and you get the same issue again in the future you will need to uninstall and reinstall the printer. If you need help with that just post a reply here. There is an equivalent for Vista but I'm not sure whether the directory or file extensions are the same, I guess I'll find out when I see a similar Vista problem. Tony |
