Default Best Graphics PC game

In your opinion what is the best graphics PC game that is out right now.(Not
whats coming out). I would have to say Elder Scrolls 3 :Morrowind. If you
think there is some better graphics games plz post them and what made you go
"Oh my god, this is grrreat".

Well, it's an old one now, but Need For Speed Porsche 2000 (Porsche
Unlimited in USA) still looks amazing, hasn't really aged much considering
it's about 4 years old...

Depends on how you define "best". Morrowind is indeed the game that
requires the really top-most video card to work (much more than UT2003
fonr instance), but the graphics are not so great (compared to UT2003
for instance).

A lot of reviews put the graphics in Unreal 2 as being the best to date. I must
say that, having played right through it myself, it seemed to lack that 'wow
factor'. Probably that's because games like Morrowind had raised the bar for
graphics in many respects, U2 didn't seem like a significant jump. I still would
put U2 ahead of Morrowind though, as the character textures were much better and
there was no lack of reflective surfaces (utilising cube mapping first
introduced with the GF 256!).

I had another thought on the whole subject of 'best graphics'. I think it would
be a good idea to specify the best use of specific graphical techniques. For
example, when it comes to Dot product bumpmapping (otherwise known as Dot3), I
would have to say that the best use to date that I have seen (in a retail game)
is in Evolva. If you compare the before and after, it makes a world of
difference!

Giants also used Dot3, but I don't think it was to the same degree that was seen
in Evolva, and when used, didn't look quite as good.

Too bad Evolva was such a bad game though. It was mostly just a tech demo
for the GF256 with a bit of gameplay schlepped on as an afterthought...

It may surprise but I liked it enough to play through it........... 2 times!

Going through a third time got boring though. It got kind of mixed reviews if I
remember correctly, so it'll be someone's cup of tea (other than mine).

Splinter Cell shows off some neat effects. Don't care much for the game,
but it looks good.

If you need to email, then chainbreaker (naturally) at comcast dot
net--that's "net" not "com"--should do it.
