dead win2k system
Hi,
I've got a home built win2k system and A serious headache. during normal use, the machine monitor simply turned itself off. After trying my spare monitor on it, it started booting properly until about half way through the "windows is now starting" screen. I got a blue screen saying "cannot find boot sector" or something along those lines. I booted up using a set of boot floppies and tried the rescue utilities, but as it couldn't "find" win2000 on my machine, and when I tried to repair the installation, it told me the disk was corrupt, I had very little option but to go for a clean install. So one re-format and installation later, everything was looking cool. A quick scan for blaster and SoBig showed a clean machine, so I was off to windows.com to re-download my service packs, and POP off went the monitor and back to a blue screen. My machine specs a AMD 1700+ on a K75SA mobo, 256md DDRAM, 40 gig HD, Gainward Geforce4 graphics. Any ideas? Cheers in advance Paul --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
