Is there really a problem, or are they being super-careful, or is this a bug in windows 7.

So, the USB dock if for drives you plug into it. Again, at you properly
unmounting the drives in Windows before you unplug the dock, unplug the
drives from the dock, or before you power down the dock? As mentioned
when the drives are plugged in and were assigned a drive letter, do the
properties of the drive show it's optimized for quick disconnect or
better performance?

I get that message when plugging in a FAT32 USB drive that was last written to by
linux. Presumably linux did not unmount the drive to Window's pedantic ideals.
