Default 45.33's and NVDVD

I notice that the overlay settings in the fx5900 control panel don't affect
video playback in NVDVD.
I can't remember if it was always like this but I recently switch to the
45.33's (from the great 44.71's) to fix the "flicker issue".

Actually, if I go into fx control panel while NVDVD is running, and move,
say the brightness, in the overlay panel and hit "apply", then NVDVD is
affected by the overlay settings.

Just wondering, since NVDVD is hardware accelerated, is it normal for the
nvidia overlay settings NOT to affect it (unless I do what i do above)?

Could this be a driver issue? I have heard that the 45.xx drivers kinda have
crappy video playback performance/quality compared to the 44.xx drivers.

Also, I notice that if I have a video open, say in mediaplayer, and then try
playing a DVD with NVDVD, the NVDVD playback "flashes" on and off. Very
weird. I just can't remember if this happened with the 44.71's
