How to install the WD FAT32 formatting program

Hi to all.

Maybe this is a Windows Vista problem, but when I try to install the
WD FAT32 formatting utility, I get an error saying "There is a problem
with this Windows installer package. A program required for this
installer to complete could not be run"

The program is ExtFat32.msi.

I tell Vista to allow the program to install, but get the error
anyway.

Is there an executable (.exe) version around?

Trying to re-format a WD MyBook 500 gig external drive.

There is a program fat32format.exe you should beable to find with
Google.

I haven't tried it with Vista, but works with XP

Hey Al,

If you go to the Western Digital website you can find the particular
download, and others that may help you.

The following below are links to the 'Downloads' page the WD website.
Choose the 'My Book' category, and then select what external drive
model you have.

When the page opens up, look to the right of the image of the external
drive model. Select one from the list, and read the following below to
make sure thats the one you want.

It sounds like you have one of the earlier MyBook editions. I've gone
ahead and chosen the MyBook for you. The following site link, with the
program selected, is below. You can download either .msi or .zip. Easy
install.
