Default which card

Not entirely sure this is the right kind of question for this forum
but here goes:
I'm wondering whether to go with Nvidia or ATI when choosing a PCIE
graphics card. The price range I'm looking at is £150-200. My existing
card is an AGP GeForce 7600 GT but Im getting a new PCIE PC and I've
lost touch with what's best. Any advice appreciated.

NVIDIA:

9600GT - $70 to 100
8800GT/9800GT - $140 to 150
9800GTX+ - $160 to 190

You will require a decent power supply and adequate room in your case
for a 9800GTX, but an 8800GT or similar is pretty easy to fit. *All of
these are good performers for the money.

If you go ATI there's really only one good choice, 4850. *But be warned
that unless you get a newer version with a better cooler that they
consume a lot of power and have high temperatures. *They use a little
bit more wattage than a 9800GTX (original version). *Otherwise they're
very good for the money at about 150 or so. *Prices vary depending on
the brand and cooler.

Thanks very much for the reply Deimos. I'll check out the NVidia
9800GTX and the ATI 4850 presently.
