ATTN: Wes - stump you!
ok maybe i can't.... but i posted this in another thread but wanted to
be sure you read it and i got your opinion on it, my cpu/board/ram run fine at 11 x 200 (barton 2500), so as mike p suggested i relaxed the timings to try a higher FSB. i went for 10x210 just to see if the fsb was attainable, booted fine and everything checked ok...rebooted and tried 10x220, same thing everything went great. then tried 10 x 225, rebooted and it posted as 1100mhz! im guessing it reverted to the original default 11 multiplier x 100mhz fsb the lowest front side bus the board does, but i retried the previous settings and the same thing happened... so i had to go back to 11 x 200 and it came up as a 3200 just like it originally did, then i set it to 10x220 and it worked but after u restert windows and the pc reposts it loses the settings and goes back to 11x100...wtf is up? the bios is losing the settings and im stumped, runs fine but wont keep the settings arghh... ever heard of this? |

Stupid I know but have you cleared the cmos with the power cord out?, set default bios settings, set "update ESCD" in bios then boot to safe mode, reboot and tweak -- Mark Twixt hill and high water. ESCD is a small piece of memory in the bios that all the settings for irq`s and stuff is kept when the bios starts, it is where the o/s can get its tables on the hardware setup if it wants or the o/s can override it and try figuring it out itself ( ACPI, APIC ). In the old days if you put a new card in and it conflicted with the irq`s you could tell the bios to remap the settings which could solve the problem for you, it is still handy now if you put a troublesome piece of hardware. I hope thats make sense I have not had enough coffee yet -- Mark Twixt hill and high water. N.Wales, UK. Email is spam trap try baskitcaise at gmx dot co dot uk |
