Default x700 working like a dog

Can anybody help me?
I've just upgraded my system with a X700 series 256MB AGP video card. The
problem I'm having now is that games like call of duty are really slowing
down in the frame rate. I reinstalled the video card and the games with no
difference I was thinking possibly it's a RAM problem my computer specs are
at the bottom of this message I think the RAM is 133MHz
any help would be greatly appreciated
regards
Colin

Well the x700 series card are build around the x800 gpu the rv420 that
is why the x700 are rv410.

the bottom line card of the x700 series are the x700 and are likely to
be compare with the 9800pro 128megs 256bits

I've try call of duty on that video card the 9800pro and it work out
great at 1024x768 resolution with no aa and fsa. also the in game
setting were set at high.

in that time i had a amd 2600 xp with 512mb of DDR 333mhg.

Maybe you should check that web site of that game and see if there is
a patch for the video card or for slow performance pc witch i think
your pc is with the 133 sdram memory you got.

it sounds like you will have to choice from keeping the system you've
got or upgrading your motherboard and memory and the video card IF you
want AGP video card vs PCI-E.

sorry

What do you have running in the background? Is this available memory when
the game is running or in Windows desktop?

I have the same amount of RAM & same OS and I have 724mb of ram free, using
186mb of pagefile sitting in desktop with Windows Task Manager open.

Looks like you have too many background applications running.

I think the RAM is 133MHz

?? You better not be using 133MHz ram (with a P4 2.6GHz) that would kill
COD.

A little more information on what motherboard you have would be helpful.

I run a PCIe X700 256mb on a P4-3.0GHz LGA775 socket w/1gig DDR400MHz
(2-512mb) onboard RealTec Audio & Intel LAN, SATA 10k Raptor drives (4) with
most current games running on High video settings at 1024x768.
The lowest FPS I've seen in Quake 4 is 17fps and is usually in the 40 to
60fps. through the whole game.

Hello Murph

The CPU is socket 478 for Intel Micro FCA -- PGA2 Pentium 4 processor
the memory supports dual channel DDR 333/DDR 266 Dimm
on board I have 2 IDE drives and 1 Sata drive with realtec audio on board
the RAM is 2 /512 333MHz (I believe) on a gigabyte GA -- 81P900 dual channel
DDR board for Intel 865P chipset

After I close down all the processes in the background including I hate
spam, zone alarm, messenger (never running) and disable Norton AntiVirus the
most memory I can retrieve is 603mb.
here is the list of processes runing in the background

I was running a G force TI 4200 128 mb with 8 x AGP with no problems for all
of my games, call of duty, United offensive, medal of honour, Pacific
assault, doom 3. After that card died I purchased an ATI Radeon x 700
series 256mb card from the company which has started these problems i think.

Graphics Card Manufacturer Powered by ATI
Graphics Chipset Palit RADEON X700
Device ID 5E4D
Vendor 1002

Subsystem ID 1E4D
Subsystem Vendor ID 1FD3

Bus Type AGP
Current Bus Setting AGP 8X

BIOS Version 009.010.001.002
BIOS Part Number X700LE5P.200-13
BIOS Date 2005/03/14

Memory Size 256 MB
Memory Type DDR1

Core Clock in MHz 398 MHz
Memory Clock in MHz 199 MHz

Primary Display Yes
that is all the information I think is relevant. Do you think I need
another gig of RAM?
Thank you in advance

Colin

Can anybody help me?
I've just upgraded my system with a X700 series 256MB AGP video card.
The problem I'm having now is that games like call of duty are really
slowing down in the frame rate. I reinstalled the video card and the
games with no difference I was thinking possibly it's a RAM problem my
computer specs are at the bottom of this message I think the RAM is
133MHz
any help would be greatly appreciated
regards
Colin

What do you have running in the background? Is this available memory when
the game is running or in Windows desktop?

I have the same amount of RAM & same OS and I have 724mb of ram free,
using 186mb of pagefile sitting in desktop with Windows Task Manager open.

(2-512mb) onboard RealTec Audio & Intel LAN, SATA 10k Raptor drives (4)
with most current games running on High video settings at 1024x768.
The lowest FPS I've seen in Quake 4 is 17fps and is usually in the 40 to
60fps. through the whole game.

Can anybody help me?
I've just upgraded my system with a X700 series 256MB AGP video card.
The
problem I'm having now is that games like call of duty are really slowing
down in the frame rate. I reinstalled the video card and the games with
no difference I was thinking possibly it's a RAM problem my computer
specs
are at the bottom of this message I think the RAM is 133MHz
any help would be greatly appreciated
regards
Colin

What do you have running in the background? Is this available memory when
the game is running or in Windows desktop?

I have the same amount of RAM & same OS and I have 724mb of ram free,
using
186mb of pagefile sitting in desktop with Windows Task Manager open.

(2-512mb) onboard RealTec Audio & Intel LAN, SATA 10k Raptor drives (4)
with
most current games running on High video settings at 1024x768.
The lowest FPS I've seen in Quake 4 is 17fps and is usually in the 40 to
60fps. through the whole game.
