Hi,

Most of the socket 478 mobos sold today indicate they have a FSB of 533

or
800 Mhz. I got a P4 2Ghz, 400 Mhz FSB CPU. Will this cpu still work in

mobos
with a higher FSB rating?

Of course, it will work But your system will run at the slowest component
speed, which is 400 MHz (4 x 100 MHz).

Is there any heat considerations with such a set up?

Since it runs slower, the northbridge and memory produce less heat, so
the consideration would be whether you need as much cooling as a
faster system. However the northbridge and memory are seldom the
parts that overheat, so practically no significant benefit or
difference, just less performance.

You can go to the respective motherboard website, eg intel, asus, msi,
gigabyte, etc for information.
