Mobo FSB question
"El Jerid" wrote in message ... "Life of Brian" wrote in message .be... Hi, Most of the socket 478 mobos sold today indicate they have a FSB of 533 or 800 Mhz. I got a P4 2Ghz, 400 Mhz FSB CPU. Will this cpu still work in mobos with a higher FSB rating? Of course, it will work But your system will run at the slowest component speed, which is 400 MHz (4 x 100 MHz). Is there any heat considerations with such a set up? |

Since it runs slower, the northbridge and memory produce less heat, so the consideration would be whether you need as much cooling as a faster system. However the northbridge and memory are seldom the parts that overheat, so practically no significant benefit or difference, just less performance. Dave |

You can go to the respective motherboard website, eg intel, asus, msi,
gigabyte, etc for information. Thanks for al the replies, Brian |
