FX5600 Visual C++ Runtime Error ---Help plz

Default FX5600 Visual C++ Runtime Error ---Help plz

just about everybody i know with a fx5600 get visual c++ runtime errors with
at least one of their games, and yet no-one seems to have the solution for
this, anybody got ideas?
example:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!
Program C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe

abnormal program termination



oh yeah i'm using driver 56.72 downloaded straight off nvidia.com

Please post more information and steps to replicate the problem.
What driver version you running?

Where is the error in, dll or app?

What o/s are you running?
Most problems like this are in the configuration!

Looks like you have the retail version of CS. Everything has switched
over to a system called Steam now. Your game is still good and your
cd-key will get you acess to all of Valve's current titles (outside
Condition Zero). Go over to www.steampowered.com and download the client.

All your existing data will be migrated to the latest version in Steam.
You can play single or multiplayer. I have a feeling the MSVCRT error
was something from an earlier version. Upgrade to Steam and everything
should be fine.

I do have steam with counter-strike 1.6, it too freezes either duing loading
or right when i get into the game, and it's caused by the same error. the
error posted is from the ealier counter-strike version 1.5, i have both
versions installed. plz read this thread:

the error's in the game executable, not dll.
i'm running windows 2000 with service pack 4 and all updates and dx9. i have friends running xp who has the same problem.

and look at all those posts following that thread, just to show you the scope of the problem.
