moving sata RAID 0 drives to a new computer-and saving data
everyone, hello. i have the following situation. I have a computer
with 2 sets of drives configured in sata raid 0 using a chaintech ZNF3-250 motherboard. The computer has died and I would like to move the drives to a new computer. Can these sata raid 0 formatted drives be moved to a new computer and still have access to the data? or are there restrictions on the type of computer they can be moved to (e.g. it must be the same motherboard type). thank you in advance for your help. david |

Must be same or compatible controller BIOS. How to get that is guesswork or information from the manufacturer. The RAID-set itself can easily be transferred, but the metadata cannot be. And manufacturers try to be incompatible on purpose to force you to continue using their brand, IMO. Arno |
