Decided on a Dell 8300- Monitor advice?
Hi
I asked some advice on this NG a couple of weeks ago about Dell PC's & others, and got some good advice. I'm now about to buy a Dell 8330, but I'd be grateful for some monitor advice. The PC's purely for work at home, word/excel etc & seeking info on the web. I don't play any PC games, but I am getting into web design as a hobby. I've decide on either a 17" analogue flat panel monitor or a 17" Ultrasharp. Any advice as to the difference in quality would be appreciated. Many thanks Paul B. |

If desktop real estate is not an issue, spend the money on a bigger CRT monitor. If you're going to be sitting in front of this thing for any length of time, 17" is simply not big enough. Take the free monitor - 17" analogue flat panel, if I remember correctly. Then look through the reviews sections of computer magazines, and buy another monitor - 17" through to 20" TFT (with as high a resolution as you can find). Run both together - you may need an extra video card - you'll never want to go back. Regards, Pete. -- Derby UK |

The Ultrasharp can be viewed from a much wider angle, is brighter, and supports DVI which is usually sharper. I've got three Ultrasharps here and one "regular" Dell display and the Ultrasharps are worth the extra money. |
