Default 6800 GT Freezing

Hi

I just purchased a Gainward 6800 GT Golden Sample, the card runs as
promised. I have noticed one problem though, when exiting DOOM3 or COD my
machine freezes.

I did not have this problem with the ATI 9600 that I replaced with the
Gainward. Has anyone else seen a problem like this?

I do not have fast write enabled

PC Spec's

Abit VT7 VIA PT880 chipset
P4 GHz 800fsb HT processor
1 gig DDR 400 memory (4 - 256 chips)
350 power supply
Gainward 6800 GT 256 meg Golden Sample

Thanks

Roland

I have heard this. The solution involves one of two things: set your
2D & 3D settings to identical clockrates. 2) Update the bios with a newer
version. 3) Install the latest doom3 beta patch. Some discussion is at:

It's not the bios, it's the latest drivers from Nvidia. I had the
exact same problem with a Ti4400... freezing when exiting either Doom
3 or UT2004. Going back to earlier drivers eliminated the problem. I
have since upgraded to a 6800 GT which requires the later drivers (no
opportunity to revert back) and now the problem is back. So, it's the
drivers, not the card.

All u need to do is to get the beta 65.73 drivers off guru 3d to fix this,
should be faster as well

The whql release of nvidia latest drivers have problems when exiting opengl
games/applications.

That's good to hear... I was hoping that a later release driver would
fix the problem. It's not a show-stopper for me, so I'll probably
wait until the next official release. Besides, it seems that every
time I install a beta driver, they release an official one within the
week. G
