Default PNY Verto GeForce FX 5600 Ultra Review

Hello,

I was so happy with my purchase I thought I would tell you about it. This
is the "new" 5600 Ultra with the 400mHz core. This card is very impressive
(my old card was a geforce4 mx 420). It came with Splinter Cell. If you
haven't played this yet, I highly recommend it. This is the first time I
have ever seen this type of dynamic lighting and shadow effects on a home PC
in real time. I can't wait to play other games on this card (Doom III, Tron
2.0, UT 2003, etc, etc)

As for all of you on the fence about which card to buy, FX or Ti4200, I must
say I was in the same situation. But I am very happy that I went with the
newer FX 5600 Ultra. I paid $205 but got Splinter Cell free ($40-50
value)...That puts the price point of the FX a little higher than a Ti4200
($135). But with the FX you get DirectX 9.0, newer technology, and the PNY
came with the latest drivers (44.03). $200 was my maximum; an FX 5900 or
high end ATI were out of reach for my wallet.

I suspect as time goes on, games will start to favor the FX chipset and I
didn't want to get left behind by buying a Ti (In the past I always bought
"older" cards to save a buck). I am sure the newer drivers will continue to
improve performance.

Also, this card is not too loud. It increases fan speed with increased load
so at idle it is fairly unobtrusive. At full speed I am too busy fragging
people to notice the fan noise.

-Mike
