Default Is the Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB worth the money for its performance?

First thanks to Dave C., Dave W. and Mac Cool for your response.

Sorry for leaving the "future" system's information out yesterday (dah!):

So here it is:

AMD Athlon 64 3500

MOBO:
MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum (AGP 8X)

OPERATING SYSTEM:
WinXP

Interested in the Radeon 9800 Pro. I might be able to afford the 256MB, but
do you think the 256MB is worth the money? Otherwise I'll get the 128MB.
