Default The PL3000 story continues.

Hi all,

Well I went to work on the ProLiant 3000 yesterday.
It is actually about 40 miles from where I live. I took
my newly SLOWLY burned SmartStart 5.5 cd and
a Debian Internet install ISO cd. I inserted the SS55
into the cd drive and fired up the machine. It booted
and I got the graphical picture and it hung. No
progression into the software on the cd. At least this
time it didn't even give me a Linux prompt. No one
brought a computer with a burner so I was stuck.
After a long time of fiddling around I turned off the
computer and stuck in the Debian cd and then fired
it up. I was still getting the 162 error code but it still
let me install Debian, no gui. The hard drives were
recognized just fine and Debian used the first two
for installation. I partitioned the last three for future
disk space of cd images, I got the Internet connection
going and I updated the kernel. Then I downloaded
ssh and ftp servers for access and transfers. That's
when I quit. What's left to do is format the 3 drives,
setup ssh and ftp and I would like to set up GNOME
and Firefox so I can browse the Internet with it. The
clock still says 1987 but I hope that when I learn how
to change the system settings, that will be fixed too.

So my rudimentary questions a
1. Will the SS55 cd fix the 162 error and the clock?
2. Is SS55 the last version of the software that will
work on this computer?
3. Is there another cd that I should use in the setup
process? Maintenance?

thanks again,
charles....
