Default When is NVidia going to release the new beta 83.10 drivers?

Hi,

I see there are newer drivers in the NVidia FTP directory (82.12). I
have read the 83.10 drivers help with dual-core processors. I can not
install Paint Shop Pro 9 (+), can't play Madden 2006, etc.....

Any ideas when some new drivers are going to be released that totally
support dual-core processors?

All releases from 83.10 to 83.60. Take your pick. :-)

BTW, worst comes to worst, you can disable one of the cores, right?

Well...I don't generally use beta drivers and have read some bad
things about the 83.10 betas (but forget what it was. Any way, enough
for me to say no - my PC is also my business PC).

Don't know how to disable one of the cores.

Thanks!

Step back a little. nVidia drivers are reference drivers, never backed with
tech support; they are never "safe". Your current drivers, non-beta by name,
has bugs that prevent you from running important applications. That should
be enough reason to switch to a working set of drivers...

This makes me wonder, how good are nVidia's drivers these days, especially
from a gaming point of view? I remember when I owned my GeForce3 Ti500 and
was using the 30.82 drivers of the day. Those were the most bullet-proof
drivers I ever used in my life. I threw everything at it and NEVER had any
problems. It has been a long time now since I've had an nVidia-based card
in my gaming box and am wondering how much has changed in the last couple of
years driver-wise? I like to keep my upgrade options open and as informed
as possible, especially since I want to build a new computer later in the
year.

I have the Dell XPS-600 desktop and I was able to get PSP 9 to work,
but not PSP X by Corel. Corel's response is to uninstall the drivers
and install old drivers, which is ridiculous.

Not really Corel or JASC's doing. Nvidia broke a lot of things with the
new 8x.xx series release. I saw they got better with 82.12, I'm using the
83.40 set from Guru3D. Both 32 bit and 64 bit versions, and PSP 9 and X
installed and ran fine for me in both XP 32 and 64.

AMD A64 X2 4800+, 2 gb PC3200, 7800GTX. Dual boot XP Pro SP2 and XP Pro 64
bit edition.

McG.

It's not ridiculous, especially if the fault lies with the nVidia drivers.
The drivers adapt to the application, not the other way around. To put
things in perspective, publishers of high-end CAD- and 3D rendering software
only provide support if you use drivers that they certified, which may be
several versions old.

Point taken. But I am still a scaredy cat ;-)
