ATI or Nvidia ?
Which one should i choose ? MSI GeForce FX5900 128MB DDR AGP, FX5900-SPVTD128, VIVO/DVI-I, Retail or Asus Radeon 9600XT 128MB DDR AGP, ATI 9600XT, DVI-I, VIVO, Retail Both cards sells at about $285 here in Norway (Asus about $35 cheaper) The MSI lacks svhs-in feature (i guess i can live with that) My system is p4-2.4 at the Asus p4s800 mainboard (1024 mb pc2700 ram) I enjoy games like: - CC Generals - Prince of Percia - Age Of Mythology - Rise of Nations I have the fx 5600 non ultra now, and wants a better card for the oncoming games..... Well my 9800 Pro flies in the first two games. I've seen a 9200 play prince of persia too, and it's fine until it crashes, not sure why that is but the system it's running on was pretty virus-ridden and has recently been reinstalled from what I know... off to that guys house now. I'd say go ATI - for similar money you'll get higher performance with the ATI when you utilise DX9 features such as pixel shaders and effects like AA and AF than on a nVidia card. I would get the 9600XT over the FX5900 simply because the DirectX 9
performance of the ATI card is better. Check Tom's Hardware for the latest Video card review. JK "Darthy" wrote in message ... I just *INCLUDED* a link to Toms latest hardware review? Here it is below... Check out Call of Duty and UT2003 with FSAA http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic...229/index.html The NEW 3D war is about to begin... As I see it, looking at performance and price: $70~100 = GeForceTi4200 - If possible. $75~100 = fx5200 (over 9200, just as crappy as 9600se) $130~150 = ATI 9600Pro/XT (When XT comes lower) $185~220 = FX5900 (Xt) or ATI9800 $250~325 = ATI 9800Pro The fx5600 & fx5700 are NOW overpriced compared to the 5900, now online for about $190!! Its easily faster than the ATI9600XT. BUT NOTE: If the standard ATI9800 can be be had for under $200, then its a toss up between it and the FX5900. -- Remember when real men used Real computers!?
