Will simply removing the battery do that?
If so how long does it take to clear? Instant?

Likely won't mention anything, unless there are no reset jumpers and removing the battery is the official reason. I haven't seen a motherboard in years that doesn't have a reset jumper, but I'm assuming it's still omitted on cheaper ones.
