Default Proliant 3000 (PII version) Memory Problem

Hello

Bought a PL3000 with 32bit PCI and EISA slots on eBay.
Also two memory cards with EDO chips.
Employing more than 400meg of RAM bluescreens any OS (Win2k, XP, Server2003).
Tried a lot, also different MoBo, to no avail.
Anybody with an idea?
Thanks in advance.
Bye.

Default Proliant 3000 (PII version) Memory Problem

It is usually critical that you run SmartStart 5.50 on the system for
ANY hardware changes. Not just to locate and and log the new memory,
but you also MUST select the proper OS that you intend to use. Now, to
my knowledge, Win2K is the only one (from your short list) that is
fully supported. Failure to choose Win2K as the proper OS may keep
memory from working properly, and will also cause only one processor of
the pair to function.

5.50 can be downloaded from the Compaq site in ISO form. Burn the CD
and boot to it. Run the Hardware Configuration Utility. When it is
finished choose Examine or Edit Settings. The OS selection will be on
top of the list. Click on it and be certain that 2000 Server is
selected.
